Blizzard Nemo

It seems like we just overcame the hurricane and now another major storm! Blizzard Nemo attacked the Northeast Friday (2/8) mid morning dumping more than 2' of snow on us in Old Saybrook. Nemo has been described as a hurricane with snow as the wind reached 120 kilometers per hour through Friday night in certain areas.

Friday morning there wasn't a drop of snow on the ground and when we woke Saturday, there was a white blanket of snow covering our entire yard!

Friday mid morning. Let the snow begin.

This is one of my favorite pictures. Connor waving at Daddy. :)

Snow ball fight.

We spent the most of Friday watching this incredible storm. Connor seemed to really enjoy all the white stuff falling from the sky!

Friday afternoon, we dressed Connor in his snow suit (passed down from his cousin Jackson) and ventured outside. The wind was a little too strong so our time outside was limited.

My sock monkey loves.

Kevin's snowman mid storm. Connor let him borrow one of his stacking cups.

We wake up Saturday morning, snowed in.
Behind Connor, notice the build up of snow against our back patio door.

Luckily, the garage door opened without any problems.

Look at the winter wonderland behind us!

Now the not so fun part of the storm....shoveling!

A true story, we were at Lowe's a couple of weeks ago and Kevin brought up the topic of needing a snow blower. I laughed and said, "no we don't." My thought was that we live on the shoreline and usually receive rain more than snow. Kevin is never going to let me live this one down. Snow blower along with generator is on our list after the last hurricane and now blizzard.

Poor Kevin

Notice, you can't even see our street. They finally were able to plow it late Saturday afternoon. Until then, everyone in our neighborhood was snowed in.

Good job, Kevin!

The last layer of snow was ice, making it that much harder to shovel.

Victory! We can use the grill again.
A big kudos to Kevin who shoveled almost all day Saturday.

Our little snow monkey.

Connor's first blizzard.

We were very fortunate not to loose power during the storm. As I write this blog ~2 weeks after the storm, our front yard remains covered in snow.

I can now say, I've witnessed a blizzard!
Bye Nemo :)
