First Ferry Ride

My first ferry ride and I am still talking about it at work. To me, thinking about a ferry ride that transports cars, reminds me of a clip from a movie with Ahsley Judd and Tommy Lee Jones where she distracts him and the car easily falls off the ferry while in route with no one noticing. Thank goodness my idea of a ferry ride didn't come true!

One of our good friends, Alan Gates, was getting married in Islet, NY on Long Island. Donna and Dennis came to stay at our place Friday night and then together we all loaded the Cross Sound Ferry from New London, CT to Orient Point, NY on Saturday. The ferry in itself from purchasing the tickets to loading the car to the approx hour ride was surprisingly easy.

Below is Boston Mom and I upon boarding the ferry.

Kevin and I.
Boston Mom and Dad on the ferry. This was their first Cross Sound Ferry trip as well. Neither one had been to Long Island.
We had a great trip on the ferry across the Long Island Sound.
Kevin, who is an avid Ghost Hunter watcher, told us about this haunted light house that is located right on the outer shores of New London.

We have arrived in Orient Point, NY. We were one of the first cars on the ferry so that means we are first to unload.

We definitely plan to take the Cross Sound ferry again to Long Island. On our trip we found out that Long Island is home to over 30 wineries.

Congrats to Alan and Robin who were wed this weekend and the reason for our ferry trip. Unfortunately my camera ran out of batteries :( We were able to celebrate this union of marriage and meet up with many good friends. All in all, another fantastic weekend that went by too fast.
